2024 DC Area Phi Beta Kappa Association High School Merit Award


Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honors organization, founded in 1776, fosters and recognizes excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Each year, the D.C. Area Phi Beta Kappa Association (DCPBK) offers four awards of $1,000 to graduating high school seniors living in the Washington, D.C. area to assist them with college or university tuition. DCPBK will present an award to four students who display sustained interest in the liberal arts and sciences, love of learning, and civic responsibility. Applicants must have a 3.5 unweighted GPA to apply.

Applications are due April 6, 2024 by 11:59pm.

Educational Information

Minimum 3.5 GPA required to apply. Please include the scale on which your GPA is calculated. Ex: 3.5/4.0
Submission of SAT and/or ACT Scores is optional. Applicants will not be penalized if they do not submit test scores. Applicants who do provide test scores are required to submit verification of those scores from the relevant testing organization's website.

Extracurricular & Community Involvement

Below, students are asked to describe their extracurricular and community involvement. We recognize that students' involvement may have changed significantly over the past several school years. Students are encouraged to include activities they have participated in virtually, or to include activities that they were involved in prior to the 2022-2023 school year.
